Comedia Himenea (1516), Bartolomé de Torres Naharro

Scene

This is a very early comedia and as such follows the classical model of five acts or jornadas.

Staging

The first act requires the men to be on the street, beneath Phebea’s window, (from which she needs to be able to appear and speak) and later on they are all inside the house. A cloak is required as the plot hinges on the Marquis finding one left behind by the fleeing Himeneo and his servants.
