Out of the Wings

You are here:

Don Gil de las calzas verdes (c.1615), Tirso de Molina

Scene

This is a three-act comedia.

Staging

Costume is important in this piece, because Juana dresses as a man, and three characters appear on stage at the same time dressed in green, impersonating ‘Don Gil’. There is a garden scene, in which there is dancing and music. There are both outdoor and indoor locations, in the principal characters’ houses as well as out in the street, though this could all be very simply represented. Letters are exchanged and intercepted. Juan appears with his arm bandaged after he is injured.
