El vergonzoso en palacio (1606-1612), Tirso de Molina

Scene

Three Acts. Act I takes place primarily in various parts of the forest, though the last scene shifts to the palace. Act II takes place in various rooms in the palace. Act III alternates between the two locales, though most action takes place in the palace. Scene division (both in terms of physical scenery and more generally) is somewhat flexible.

Staging

On a conceptual scale, it is crucial to have a clear division between the forest and the palace. Within the palace environment, some scenes take place in the garden, some in an interior public space, and some in private chambers. In addition, Act III contains a scene in which characters inside the palace converse through a window with others in the garden outside. The most important props are the implements of writing and painting (also useful: a rope and a mirror). Several character's should probably have swords, as well, and there is an opportunity for a sword fight in the opening scene.
